Trust and Obey

I like to journal and this is one of my journal entries from Monday.

"The anxiety I am feeling right now is fear.  Fear of the unknown.  I don't know what to expect or what lies ahead and I am already worrying.  Why, Joan do you worry so much?  I feel like one of Jesus disciples right now, thinking to myself what is going to happen tomorrow as I journey with Him on the road to the unknown?  Sleep was impossible tonight!  I lay here tossing and turning, thinking about the trip .

When sleep is a issue, I read, watch some tv, listen to music, or sing.... usually all of the above.  One of the songs that came in my head is a childhood hymn. "Trust and obey"

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

The other song that came to mind is a more contemporary song called "Mighty to Save..."

Everyone needs compassion, Love that's never failing;  Let mercy fall on me.
Everyone needs forgiveness, The kindness of a Savior; The Hope of nations.

Savior, He can move the mountains, My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation, He rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me, All my fears and failures, Fill my life again.
I give my life to follow Everything I believe in, Now I surrender.

My Savior, He can move the mountains,  My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation, He rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine your light and let the whole world see, We're singing for the glory of the risen King... Jesus
Shine your light and let the whole world see, We're singing for the glory of the risen King... Jesus

My Savior, He can move the mountains,  My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvationHe rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave.

Jesus, help me to trust in you for all my fears and worries and walk with you on this journey."

After I sang, I was able to fall asleep...a little exhausted the next day, but my praise to Him was what matters. Who needs sleep?
